Spacebar Clicker
How to play: press SPACE, or click or tap the box, to add one to your total. Your total is saved on this device, so you can keep climbing levels every time you come back.
The Spacebar Clicker is a simple, endless clicker game for your keyboard. Every press of the spacebar adds one to your total, the live counter shows how many presses per second you are managing, and you level up as your total grows. There is no timer and no pressure. Press as fast or as slowly as you like, stop whenever you want, and pick up where you left off next time.
It runs in your browser with nothing to install, and it works on a phone or tablet too, by tapping the box instead of pressing a key.
How the spacebar clicker works
- Press SPACE, or click or tap the box, to add one to your total.
- The big number is your all-time total on this device. It is saved automatically.
- Per second shows your current speed, measured over the last 2 seconds.
- Peak / sec is your fastest speed during this visit.
- This visit counts only the presses since you opened the page.
- Your level rises at milestones, starting at 50 presses and going all the way to 100,000.
Holding the spacebar down counts as a single press. Each press has to be a real, separate tap, so auto-repeat from holding a key cannot inflate your total.
Levels and milestones
Levels start close together so you level up quickly at first, then spread out as your total grows. The progress bar under your total shows how far you are from the next level. Reaching the top level takes 100,000 presses, so it is a long-term goal rather than something to finish in one sitting.
Spacebar Clicker vs Spacebar Counter
This site has two spacebar tools, and they do different jobs:
- Spacebar Clicker (this page) has no time limit. It keeps a running total, tracks your levels and saves your progress. It is for relaxed clicking, warming up your fingers, or just watching the number climb.
- Spacebar Counter is a timed speed test. You press as fast as you can for a set time and get a score for your speed. Use it when you want to measure and compare how fast you can press.
A good routine is to warm up here for a minute, then switch to the Spacebar Counter to test your top speed.
Tips for pressing faster
- Use your thumb. Your thumb naturally rests on the spacebar. Keep it relaxed and press from the joint rather than your whole hand.
- Short, light taps. The key only needs to go down far enough to register. Pressing harder does not make it count more and tires you out.
- Anchor your hand. Rest the side of your hand or your fingers on the keyboard so only your thumb moves.
- Alternate thumbs. Some players use both thumbs one after the other to push their speed higher.
- Take breaks. Stop if your thumb or wrist starts to ache. Speed is not worth a strain.
Why people use a spacebar clicker
Many games rely on the spacebar for jumping, and fast repeated presses help in rhythm games, platformers and some PvP games. A spacebar clicker is an easy way to get used to quick, controlled taps without the pressure of a timer. It is also a handy way to check that your spacebar registers every press. If some presses seem to go missing, the key may be sticking or worn.
When you are ready for a challenge with a goal, try Space Jump, our spacebar game where you jump over blocks, or test your mouse speed with the CPS test.
Frequently asked questions
Does holding down the spacebar count?
No. Holding the key down counts as one press. You need to release and press again for each count, just like a real click.
Is my total saved?
Yes. Your total and level are saved in your browser on this device. Clearing your browser data or switching to another device or browser starts a new total. Use the Reset button if you want to start again on purpose.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. Tap anywhere in the box to add one. On a phone there is no spacebar, so tapping does the same job.
What does presses per second mean?
It is how many presses you made in the last 2 seconds, divided by 2. It updates constantly and drops back to zero when you stop.
Why does the page not scroll when I press space?
The clicker stops the spacebar from scrolling the page while you play, so the box stays in view.
