Who we are

Click Tester (clicktester.net) is a free website with browser tools for testing click speed, reaction time, typing, aim and mouse performance. It is run from the United Kingdom, and Click Tester is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any question about this policy or your data, email admin@clicktester.net.

The short version

  • You never need an account, and we never ask for your name.
  • Your test results stay in your own browser. They are not sent to us.
  • We use Google Analytics to see which pages and tools are used, and Google AdSense to show ads that keep the site free.
  • If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are only used if you agree to them.

What we collect and why

Your test results. Every tool runs in your browser. Best scores and recent results are saved in your browser’s local storage on your own device so you can track your progress. They are not uploaded to us, and you can delete them at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed, the type of device and browser, the approximate location (country or city, worked out from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store) and how you arrived. We use this only to improve the site. For visitors in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, Google Analytics cookies are only set if you agree to them. Until then, Google Consent Mode tells Google not to set them.

Advertising. We show ads through Google AdSense, provided by Google Ireland Limited. Google may use cookies or similar technology to show and measure ads and, if you agree, to show ads based on your interests. For visitors in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, advertising cookies and personalised ads are only used if you agree; otherwise Google shows limited, non-personalised ads. Google may still set a small number of cookies that are needed to deliver ads and prevent fraud. You can read how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and change your ad settings at adssettings.google.com.

Emails you send us. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and we delete them within 12 months unless we need them for an ongoing conversation.

Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records technical information such as your IP address, the page requested, your browser and the time, to keep the site secure and working. These logs are kept for a short period by the host.

Our legal bases

  • Consent for analytics and advertising cookies and for personalised ads (UK, EEA and Switzerland). You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests for keeping the site secure, replying to your emails and showing non-personalised ads that keep the tools free.

Cookies and local storage

  • _ga and _ga_*: Google Analytics, up to 2 years. Only with consent in the UK, EEA and Switzerland.
  • Google advertising cookies such as __gads, __gpi and __eoi: set by Google to deliver, limit and measure ads.
  • Local storage entries for your tool results: stored only on your device, never sent to us.

You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop the tools from working, but your saved best scores will be lost when you clear site data.

Where your data goes

We do not sell your data. Data collected by Google Analytics and Google AdSense is processed by Google, which may transfer it outside the UK and EEA. Google relies on recognised safeguards for these transfers, such as the UK–US data bridge and standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how it is used, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, email admin@clicktester.net. Because we do not keep accounts or test results, most of the data described here is held by Google, and you can also manage it through your Google account and ad settings.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority in your country.

Children

The tools are suitable for all ages, but we do not ask for anyone’s age and do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Personalised advertising is only used with consent. If you are a parent and believe your child has emailed us, contact us and we will delete the message.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
